SHAPES AND COLORS
❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Thank you for signing up for the parent teacher conferences on November 5th. We have been enjoying getting to know our new students and teaching them new topics and skills! This week we have been learning colors and shapes. When drawing and having circle time, we go over colors of markers/crayons and play fun games. One game was to find all of the red items scattered on the carpet. We repeated this game with other colors as well.
To help the children to recognize different shapes, we have incorporated everyday items from around the classroom that may have different shapes printed on them. For example: A circular cake plate with heart decals, toy watermelons are triangular, ice cream cones have tiny squares printed on them, STOP signs are octogons, etc.
Everyone has had a lot of fun collaging and coloring in their Quarter Note, Quarter Note, What Do You See? book based on Eric Carle's classic, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? In this book you will be able to see what a wonderful job the Quarter Notes did cutting, gluing, and drawing! We hope you enjoy this special keepsake that your little ones have created just as much as we enjoyed creating them! 🌈
On Monday, Miss Becca lead us to some violin playing mats. The mats have yellow rest position and green violin playing tape on them so we know where to keep our feet. The children first practiced bowing then learning how to keep foam violins under their arms with the stars facing outward.
Miss Becca went over different parts of the violin with a song:
Here is the star (belly, scroll, or bridge). 🎻
Each child was excited to be able to use their pointer finger to pluck an E string.
We also marched and danced to different songs to keep everyone engaged and listened to how the music makes you feel and move depending on how it sounds. It was a lot of fun!
Mrs. Mei went over the different animals we learned in the Napping Book from last week. She also read us a new book called, Widget about a dog who lived with 6 cats. To help the children learn the words for cat and dog in Mandarin, Mrs. Mei brought in stuffed animals. We reviewed the words for eyes, nose, and mouth, then learned how to say hair and head. Mrs. Mei drew a silly face on the board to help everyone remember the words while we pointed to our own hair, etc.
Lucky Bob came for a fun magic show on Friday! Each child was able to balance a large yellow ball on their index finger. A fun time was has by all! 🎩
Miss Lisa had a fun lesson planned for us this week. We danced around to the song Monster Mash!
Please bring in warm coats and hats for our outside playtime. The weather became cool really fast! We are in need of extra clothing in the cubbies for a few of our friends. Please check the Ziploc bags to see if your child needs socks, underwear, and seasonable shirts and pants in case of bathroom accidents or mud. Thank you! 😊
Friendly Reminder: We are closed this Monday, October 14th. See you Tuesday!
Enjoy your long weekend!
