Suzuki Thanksgiving Concert Nov. 24- 26

The concert day is finally here! We are so proud of the kids and their performance. The Quarter Notes make some pretty adorable looking turkeys. Great job, kids!

Thank you for helping with the potluck food items. We appreciate everyone's help. It was all delicious!

During the week we continued to decorate our costumes and rehearse our routines. There has been a lot of preparation, but it has been a lot of fun, too. Of course, we had opputunities for learning activities, like a pumpkin pie math game. Pie pieces were colored orange and numbered. The children counted the pie pieces and counted out the same number of cotton balls (whipped cream) and put them onto the pie. We've also been practicing holding our pencils and markers while tracing numbers and letters onto reusable laminated sheets.

Our friends in Half Notes invited us to a camp fire sing-a-long complete with a tent, campfire, sticks with cotton ball  marshmallows, lanterns, and real s'mores! It was such a fun morning. The kids LOVED the s'mores. We sang several songs, turned flashlights on, and then went on a pretend bear hunt.

Mrs. Mei read us, Spot's Thanksgiving. We talked about what we were thankful for, then sang a song in Mandarin about how each family member was in our heart.  The kids enjoyed last weeks Thanksgiving video so much that we rewatched it and sang along. When we were finished with the video, we were shown flashcards with a teddy bear pointing to different parts of his body (head, eyes, nose, mouth, shoulders, knees, and head) and sang head, shoulders, knees, and toes in Mandarin.

Miss Becca had us practice our feet positions by jumping from rest to playing position on our mats. We then practiced "hugging" our violins under our arms while Miss Becca came around with a gentle tug to see that our violins were secure. Everyone followed Miss Becca in a circle while she played Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star so we could pretend we were walking into the Windsor Club for the concert. We then formed a line and bowed for four seconds.

Miss Lisa did a rehearsal with us on Tuesday. The Quarter Notes really enjoyed seeing the older children sing and the Whole Notes pluck, Elephant on their violins.

Enjoy the Thanksgiving break with your family and friends. We will see you on Monday, December 2nd. Gobble, gobble!
