Year of the Rat

🐉🐉🐉🐀 Year of The Rat 🐀🐉🐉🐉

We hope everyone enjoyed their three day weekend. When the Quarter Notes returned on Tuesday we got right to work counting and tracing our names on laminated sheets.

The children made lots of fun crafts for Lunar New Year. Such as drums made out of painted Dixie plates, Rice Krispy Treat sushi, and fans. The drums were decorated with Chinese characters meaning good fortune. We painted paper halves and glued wooden popsicle sticks in an X. The children enjoyed decorating the fans with gems. Afterwards, it was fun to dance to traditional music with our friends.

The classroom has started using the job chart. The chart should help our friends recognize each other's names, jobs, as well as instilling a feeling of self confidence when having a special task.

Thank you to James' mother for reading to the class! We appreciate you coming in and giving us tattoos and red envelopes to put them in. The envelopes were beautiful and put our classroom red envelopes to shame.

Friday's Lunar New Year celebration was great! Thank you to Miss Yutin, Mrs. Mei, and Evan's mother for celebrating with us. Thank you to Clark's mother for showing us how to make paper designs to hang on our windows. They were beautiful. Miss Yutin and Mrs. Mei made delicious dumplings for everyone. Mrs. Mei Skyped her family in Tawaiin and all the children said hello to her relatives at 11:45 PM - right before they rang in the new year. The children (and teachers) had a blast.

After our celebration upstairs, we made Rice Krispy treat sushi rolls with the Half Notes, then we had our pizza for pizza Friday.  🍕🥟 It was such an exciting day!

          😊 Have a great weekend! 😊
