ALPHABET SOUP

              🍜 ALPHABET SOUP 🍜

The Quarter Notes are starting to recognize the first letter in their name. The activities this week were to help the children recognize and match different letters.

Foam letters, bowls, and plastic spoons made letter recognition fun. We pretended to make alphabet soup.....but we were really finding letters in their names or their classmates names. 😉

Everyone loved our books this week. Strega Nona and Stone Soup were big hits! The Quarter Notes participated in an interactive reading of Stone Soup. The story was brought to life with pretend veggies and a plastic cauldron during circle time.

We made our own Stone Soup collages with pictures of different soup ingredients that were colored in, cut with scissors (teacher directed activity), and glued onto a soup pot. The children also matched the letters in their names on a giant soup cauldron, and used stamps or dobbers to follow inside the lines of the first letter of their name.

Pebbles from the playground were used as math counters (Because of Stone Soup).

Our first pizza Friday was on 9/25. I bought pizza stickers and let the kids go to town! They also learned to sing, "I am a pizza".  🍕

Mandarin: Mrs. Mei taught us the four tones in the Mandarin language.  We were taught hand gestures to coincide with each tone, the word for hand, toes, stop, and counted to 5.

Music: Triplet Words (3 syllable words like pineapple and blueberry). As the children get older, they will think of their own triplet words during music class. We're starting to learn Mississippi Stop, Stop.

Sports: Yoga, rainbow ribbons, balancing and bikes.

       🎂  HAPPY BIRTHDAY,  DIANA! 🎂

We enjoyed a party on Tuesday complete with school approved cupcakes.  The Quarter Notes sang to Diana and wished her a Happy Birthday.  So cute!

*If your child is having a birthday,  please feel free to provide a nut free snack or goody bag to take home in backpacks.

*If your child needs additional items for their cubby or has had an accident, please return any clothing. Thank you!

Friendly Reminder: No school on Monday, 9/28 (Yom Kippur).

            😊  Have a great weekend! 😊
