SHAPES AND COLORS 9/14-18

               🎨 SHAPES and COLORS 🎨

The Quarter Notes are really getting used to morning drop offs and classroom routines.  😊

This week, we learned about shapes and colors. We used large shape finders to go around the classroom and find different shapes. The class did a great job finding objects that resembled the shape finders. I did place a few items around the room that boosted the confidence of those that may be unsure of finding matches.

Worksheets with shapes and crayons were a less invasive way of seeing what shapes the children were already able to recognize, and which colors they already knew. Circle time has been a nice way to introduce color songs and dancing. I moved laminated shapes and colors above, under, next to, on, and off of each other to help demonstrate the meaning of each word.

It was fun coloring on wooden beads, then stringing them onto yarn. The tips of the yarn are coated (like shoelaces) making threading the beads easier. This activity is great for fine motor skills. The kids also loved their beautiful necklaces!

Colorful fruit counters and bowls with foam numbers were put on the table.  The Quarter Notes could match the fruit to the same color bowl, or use the foam numbers to count the number of fruit they put inside.

Tuesday and Thursday we met Ms. Lisa, our music teacher, for the very first time! It was a Zoom call, but the children seemed to enjoy learning new songs and stamping their feet /clapping their hands to the beat. Sophie the cat was Ms. Lisa's assistant.

Sports will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Mr. Perry did Yoga and had the kids do gross motor skills in the parking lot (parking lot is blocked off using traffic cones). They also did an obstacle course and rode bikes.

Mrs. Mei took some of the children individually to their very first piano lesson! She keeps track of the children's lessons and has her own schedule. She also teaches Mandarin.  Our first Mandarin lesson was Friday.  Mrs. Mei taught the children Hello, Bye Bye, My name is, and counted to five in Mandarin.

Our Rhythm of the Day is as follows:

* 8:00- 9:30/Drop off/Playtime/Centers are open

* 9:30 Morning Snack

MANDARIN: MONDAY and FRIDAY/10-10:30

MUSIC: TUESDAY and THURSDAY /10-10:30

SPORTS: WEDNESDAY @ 10:30-11:00 and THURSDAY at 11:00-11:30

OUTSIDE TIME: MONDAY-FRIDAY:10:30-11:00

*Pull Ups request: if possible, please bring in the pull Ups with "Velcro" sides or tabs. These make bathroom changing much faster (instead of having to remove clothing and shoes). We will use up any of the current Pull Ups. Thanks for your help!  😊

Below are my kiddos on their first in person school day. Sadly, Junior and Freshman frown upon their Mom taking back to school pictures.  The cat was more excited. Poor me. 😂

        😊 HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND! 😊
