🤓 MAD SCIENTISTS 🤓
The Quarter Notes have enjoyed being scientist this week. We observed the inside of a pumpkin with magnifying glasses, made potions, guessed what was inside of a pumpkin, charted how many seeds we thought were inside, made an erupting pumpkin, and hypothesized what would happen to a gummy bear in water.
If that weren't enough, the children have loved the story, There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly by Simms Taback. The class made a craft with the old lady and her "snacks". This project also helped us with sequencing the animals the old lady ate.
An old marker box made a recyable teaching tool for me. I cut out different rainbow colored construction paper and lay it inside the box. The children used fruit counters and paper, then counted the fruit.
Everyone loves the play structure! The class has had tons of fun climbing the ladders and going down the big slide. It's been wonderful for socio dramatic play as well. Every student wrote their name on a Thank You sign to Village Bank for their generous donation. There was a ribbon cutting to commemorate the event.
Suzuki conducted the first fire drill on Friday. The Quarter Notes had a quick pep talk before the bell rang. The children knew what was going to happen and where we would be meeting the rest of the school. They did a great job! We will talk more about fire safety later in the year.
Mandarin: Sang songs with animals and numbers. Learned the words for mouth, eyes, nose, and eat. Practiced saying how old we are and "My name is......"
Music: Practiced our Spooky Suzuki songs, marched to the drum beat, and moved a scarf to the music with our bow hands. Used box violins.
Sports: Wednesday, the weather was rainy so we conducted Sports in our classroom. We used rainbow ribbons, did jumping jacks, and used a ball. Thursday allowed us to be outside and practice balancing and matching small and large cones.
*The Halloween parade will be held on Friday, October 30th at 11:45.
*Please drop children off in a costume (preferably with street clothes underneath). We will be having a classroom party. A sign up sheet will be located outside of our door. Thank you for your donations! 🎃
*Be on the lookout for the Parent/Teacher conference sign up sheet. Virtual conferences will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd. I'm looking forward to talking with everyone.
😊 Have a great weekend! 😊
