🔥 🏕 Camping 🏕 🔥
The Quarter Notes pretended to go camping this week. We read the Little Critter book, Just Me and My Dad, by Mercer Meyer. I asked the children who has gone camping, fishing, had a fire in a fire pit, and who has toasted marshmallows/made S'Mores. For those who haven't experienced camping yet, we watched a 4 minute clip of Peppa Pig camping on YouTube.
The children had fun making their own fire pits out of paper plates, paint and paper. We collected rocks, then glued them onto the fire pit. Everyone used a lot of glue so they took forever to dry, but when it finally did, we sat in a circle and pretended to toast our marshmallows together.
Camping stickers and a camping collage were a fun way to talk about nature and make fun crafts. The Quarter Notes made bookmarks and camping scenes.
Due to the rain, we had a lot more indoor time this week. We made sure to be silly and move our bodies and took advantage of songs with learning outcomes. For example: The Magic C song, which helps the children listen to my directions, and My Teacher Draws song which allows the children to watch and replicate what I'm drawing (letters and making shapes that can be turned into objects. Circle into a cat, square into a window, triangle into a volcano). Everyone seemed to enjoy singing these songs and did a great job trying to make the letter C, circle, etc.
Practiced cutting, letter sounds, and writing numbers and letters throughout the week.
Mandarin: Mrs. Mei was out sick this week.
Music: Practiced our Thanksgiving songs, Mississippi Stop, Stop, listened to Vivaldi.
Sports: Excercising and kicking a ball.
😊 Have a great weekend! 😊
