🍪🐭 IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE 🐭🍪
Thanks for virtually meeting with me on Tuesday! It was great to chat and see everyone's faces (sans- mask).
Deb has sent out an email regarding updated outside mask wearing policies. Please reach out to her with any questions you may have. 😊
Being in a preschool classroom is like living in the book, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie by Laurie Nuermoff. You start one project and may get side tracked along the way. 😂
We started the week off by making pretend cookie dough, using the rolling pins, and cookie cutters. Everyone had their own labled Ziploc bag so we could keep our own dough throughout the week.
Of course, we read a number of If You Give A Mouse....books. The Quarter Notes really enjoyed these silly books and illustrations. I put laminated characters and props out in the circle area. The children built houses for the characters and took turns tucking the mouse in bed.
We made a Cause and Effect craft at the art table. We first wrote what would happen if we gave a mouse a....(looking for original answers that are different from the book), then gluing our answers onto a painted chocolate chip cookie plate. 🍪 Some of the answers are quite silly! The class enjoyed hearing their friend's answers.
Practiced our writing skills on laminated sheets. Words were: COOKIE, MOUSE, BED, and MILK.
The math table had fun cookie counting puzzles. The children used their counting and number recognition skills to complete the puzzles. This activity could be completed alone or with a buddy. I was there to oversee the kids during this activity, and reminded everyone to use their pointer fingers to slowly and carefully count each cookie.
In the book, the mouse draws a picture of his family. The Quarter Notes also made pictures of their families using crayons. The pictures are adorable! I'm saving them for something special. ❤
It was a warm week! The children enjoyed a lot more outside time and water breaks throughout the day. 🌞 We had a fun time walking to the playground on Thursday and playing with our Suzuki friends.
Mandarin: Singing a Springtime song, playing a memory game and guessing which food item is missing (answers are in Mandarin), repeating new vocabulary words: caterpillar, grape, and cookie.
Music: NO music or violin this week.
Sports: Rainbow strings and bikes.
🍪 HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND! 🍪
