π·πΈ π HALLOWEEN π πΈπ·
Trick or Treat? The constant rain felt like a trick, but the kids had plenty of fun activities to keep them busy throughout the week.
The Quarter Note class loves looking at everything through a magnifying glass, so we looked at bugs and insects that are incased in resin cubes at the Science table.
Spider webs, dice, and plastic spider rings were out at the Math table. The children rolled the die, counted the dots with their index/pointer fingers, and put the same number of spiders on the web.
We practiced fine motor skills by sewing lacing strings into laminated circles. The final results were as unique as a real spider web. The webs were hung up on the classroom windows. We finished the theme by creating spooky spiders with pipe cleaners and googly eyes stickers.
Green paint and wooden beads created Halloween slime paintings. We couldn't forget to make some googly eyed Jack-o-lanterns!
Tape and a clear shower curtain made a fun alphabet game. Letters were written in between the web. The children used felt alphabet cards with words and images that started with each letter. Children could help other friends, work alone, or work one on one with a teacher.
Everyone had so much fun singing Flit and Fly in Music! We cut out black bat silhouettes and used white crayons to decorate them. The children danced and flew the bats around the room listening to Halloween inspired classics.
Friday we had fun making Marshmallow Monsters! It was messy, yummy, and silly. π Everyone had a spoon to spread frosting on an extra large marshmallow. We used sprinkles as the fur and put large edible eyes on our monsters. π To get those creative juices flowing we listened to The Monster Mash while we decorated. π»
The Halloween parade is always a treat! Everyone looked amazing in their costumes. π Thanks for coming out to see everyone!
* REMINDERS: Please bring multiple pieces of extra clothing for the cubbies (pants, underwear, socks, shirts, shoes). Extra clothes are not only for bathroom accidents, but food/water and dirt/paint spills as well. Thank you!
*We will be celebrating Diwali next week. We'd love you and your family to any share books or traditions that you celebrate with us!
*Quarter Note conferences are TUESDAY, NOV. 2nd. The sign up sheet was sent out by email. We look forward to seeing everyone on Zoom!
* Katrina e-mailed a video of the parade.
MANDARIN: Colors. Matching the colors to our clothing. Large movements were put on different colored cards. Mikey Mouse spun a wheel. We said whatever color the arrow landed on in Mandarin.
MUSIC: It was great to have Ms. Lisa back with us! She used a bow stamp on the children's right hands and a violin stamp on their left hands. This will help them know which hand is which when they are asked to raise/use their bow or violin hand. Sang Flit and Fly with bats and walked like a skeleton, floated like a ghost, crawled like a cat, etc. to the music or drumbeat.
SPORTS: Rainbow streamers, freeze dance, and running.
π· Have a Spooktacular Halloween! π·
