Thanksgiving 11/22-24

 🦃🍇 🥔 🍗  HAPPY THANKSGIVING 🍗 🥔🍇🦃

Thank you families for watching the children during the teacher's Thanksgiving Feast! We had a blast and appreciate your generosity. We hope that you enjoyed your time with the kids as much as we do. 😊

The Quarter Notes were shown maze. They touched the kernels and were asked what colors they saw. The colors ranged from white, pink, yellow, blue, orange, purple, and brown kernels. Maze is really beautiful.  😍 We recreated the different colored kernels using paint and bubble wrap. We dipped the bubble wrap into the paint and stamped it onto a precut corn shape. The next day, we were able to glue our corn into a precut husk. It's fun to look at different objects in a new way and use the textures and patterns as sources of inspiration for projects.

                                     🌽 🌽 🌽

A lot of us will be eating pumpkin pie on Thursday. We made a fun pumpkin pie math game using cotton ball whipped cream (or marshmallows). We recognized the numbers in the upper right hand boxes and counted out the same number of cotton balls. This activity was teacher directed.

The Quarter Notes have been practicing writing letters. Of course, we had to write T-U-R-K- E -Y using whiteboard markers and laminated sleeves.

Everyone was able to view the recording of their Thanksgiving music performance.  The children really seemed to like watching themselves on the computer! They clapped for themselves at the end. 👏

We can't forget our turkey costumes and headdresses.  Your little turkeys looked adorable and enjoyed eating a variety of yummy food during their classroom Thanksgiving Feast on laminated placemats.  Thank you for signing up and contributing. We hope you enjoy the feast pictures below.  ❤

The book, What We Wear: Dressing Up Around the World, by Maya Ajmera, Elise Hofer Derstine, and Cynthia Pon, showed photographs of children from different countries in their cultural clothing. The class talked about wearing different clothing for different holidays or celebrations.  We looked at the map inside of the book and found the United States. Although we didn't delve too much into Pilgrims and Native Americans celebrating Thanksgiving, we did find England on the map, and talked about a boat coming to Plymouth. The children thought it was funny that they ate seafood and not turkey at the first Thanksgiving. A show of hands proved that the kids thought turkey was the better option.

🦃 MANDARIN: Sang a fun Thanksgiving song using hand gestures to help us remember the lyrics. Recapped vocabulary words.

Please see the attachment for the fruits and color yoga.
Thanksgiving song lyrics as below:

Thanksgiving has turkey,

Thanksgiving has pumpkin,

Thanksgiving has yummy pumpkin pie.

Thanksgiving has turkey,

Thanksgiving has pumpkin,

Thanksgiving has my lovely family.
