🚆 TRAINS 🚆
What a fun week! The Quarter Notes all love trains and really love Thomas the Train characters. The class enjoyed building train tracks and using Thomas the Train stickers to decorate paper.
Tanagrams are primary color wooden shapes that fit into a template much like puzzle pieces. The children enjoyed making train tanagrams. Teachers asked open ended questions such as: What color is that?, What shape do you think that is?, and reminded everyone to match the shapes on the template to the wooden pieces.
Thomas the Train has lots of fun songs. We were able to have movement activities inside of the classroom.
The class sorted, then counted fruit manipulatives. This was a one on one activity to help encourage everyone with their math skills. We recognized different foam numbers and counted the same number of manipulatives. Doing this activity using different color trains was fun, but also helped with sorting.
We made name trains in art throughout the week. The children first glued the box cars in different colors onto construction paper, then wrote each letter onto the box cars to make a train. Then, we colored in a train that Ms. Dressler drew and taped the box cars to it. Choo choo!
Next Tuesday, February 1st is Lunar New Year! We prepared our classroom for the festivies by making beautiful paper lanterns on Friday. The lanterns were hung up in the classroom. Mrs. Mei will help us celebrate on Monday, January 31st. 🐉
🚆 MANDARIN: Weather, Chinese New Year and singing songs in Mandarin. Writing character for Spring.
🚆 MUSIC: Mississippi Stop Stop, xylophone, Beats, blue Jello hand signs, and bunny bow holds.
🚆 SPORTS: Rainbow strings, soccer balls, Yoga.
🚉 HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND! 🚉
(Stay safe and warm in the storm!)
