🎅 🍭 GINGERBREAD 🍭🤶
The kids have been excited with all of gift giving, singing, party prepping, and playing indoors when we could be outside, that we've had to keep them very occupied. Good thing we love to craft and sing!
We had a little but of a Pinterest fail with our original snowglobe gifts (they were ADORABLE until Monday morning when they turned into Olaf in Summer). Soooo....we had to be fast and put our thinking caps on so we could make more family gifts. The kids are welcome to take them home as some are still in good shape. They are also fun to shake. Sadly, they just weren't gift worthy. 😞 We hope you enjoy some adorable snowman bookmarks and the pinecone decorations instead.
There have been a lot of puzzles and a giant gingerbread man with velcro numbers on the tables. The Quarter Notes have cooperated with each other to put the puzzles together and count out loud/put numbers in numerical order. Since we made our graham cracker gingerbread houses last week, this week the Quarter Notes created one out of cereal boxes and pipe cleaners. It looks good enough to eat, but is mixed media.
The Quarter Notes and Half Notes celebrated Chanukah by reading a Chanukah book, dancing to the Dreidle song, and making Dradles out of marshmallows, Hershey's kisses, frosting, and pretzels.
Friends had fun learning simple AB and ABC patterns. The children practiced their patterns with laminated drawings of different colored Christmas bulbs that had velcro on the back. These bulbs were matched by color. Each child was asked what color the bulbs were as they were working. We then used a pointer finger and said the pattern outloud together (EX: red, green, red, green). Don't worry if your child has some difficulties with patterning initially, it can take a whole school year for this age group to learn this skill.
The classroom parties were a fun time! The children worked hard during circle times to learn Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer for you. They also had fun decorating the classroom and setting up the party with us in the morning. We hope you enjoyed the show! It was nice to get to chat with everyone.
Miss Lisa sang songs with us and we marched to the beat piano (quietly) or forte (loudly). We practiced playing Blue Jello and used our hands to read the rhythms. We then had fun with a parachute!
Each child held onto a handle of the parachute. We moved the parachute up and down, fast and slow, depending on the music of the Dreidle song.
Mrs. Mei talked about the Winter Soltice. We watched a video on traditional treats that were created to celebrate this special time of year and getting together with our families and friends. The Quarter Notes reviewed many words that we have learned the past few months such as, apple, star, sun, and body parts.
We are on Winter Break from December 20th until January 2nd.
We will miss all of our Quarter Notes and wish you and your families a happy and healthy New Year!
