ARCTIC ANIMALS 1/25-29

                           🐧 Arctic Animals 🐧

BRRRRR! It's been cold outside! Seems like the perfect week to learn about artic animals. Packing foam is a wonderful, and much warmer, substitute for ice. The Quarter Notes used polar bears, seals, penguins, and artic fox figurines for some social dramatic fun.

I made photocopies of penguins and put them into plastic sleeves. The children "fed" the penguins goldfish crackers from their own Dixie cups. Everyone used their pointer fingers to count how many fish the penguin had in their belly. The goldfish were discarded and the sleeves were bleach wiped after each child played at the math table. 😊

We made beautiful penguin and polar bear crafts using polar bear and handprint cut outs, glue and glitter.

Mandarin: Laba congee: talked about the colors of the ingredients and how many ingredients it took to make congee (8). Sang songs and revisited clothing vocab.  Learned about Zodiac animals for upcoming Chinese New Year.

Sports: Parachute, throwing balls, dancing like dinosaurs.

Music: Mississippi Stop Stop, box violins, and rhythm sticks and scarves.

The Quarter Notes will be celebrating Chinese New Year on Friday, February 12th. I bought a lot of great items to help us celebrate.  Mrs. Mei will also come into the classroom for our party.

                   😊  Have a great weekend 😊
