MLK DAY/FRIENDSHIP 1/19-22

           ☮ ❤ MLK DAY and FRIENDSHIP ❤ ☮

I hope everyone had a wonderful three day weekend.  This week, we learned about friendship and what it means to be a good friend. We read the book, The Little Red Hen, during circle time and talked about what the little red hen's friends could have done to be better helpers. We also read Chrysanthemum.  Each of these stories have peers who weren't being very kind. The Quarter Notes shared their thoughts on how these characters could have been better friends.

Each child picked a different color paint. I painted their right hand and they stamped it twice onto posterboard creating a friendship wreath. The wreath was hung on the bulletin board over our circle area. I asked each Quarter Note to say something nice about their classmates and wrote their answers down under each child's picture.

The words LOVE, JOY, FRIEND, and KIND were out on the tables for the children to practice their writing skills and letter recognition.

The children used their fingers to count objects on a worksheet, then write that number.

Since this week was about friendship, love, and peace, I included a picture of my father at Woodstock below (and yes, that's his foot and half of his body 😂).  Your children are a wonderful example of friendship.  They are all very kind little people.  I often think that the real world should be more like like preschool.

      We celebrated another January birthday.
