EARTH DAY 4/12-16

             🌎 🌱 ❤ ♻️ EARTH DAY ♻️ ❤ 🌱 🌎

The Quarter Notes learned about Earth Day! The children are already great at recycling in the classroom. We use a recycling ♻️ bin for our paper scraps when cutting or doing art projects. The class learned what a recycling logo looks like, how we can conserve water (not leaving the faucet running when washing our hands), what materials we can recycle, and ways we can reuse items instead of throwing them away (donating toys we don't play with or clothes that don't fit us anymore).

Each child was able to recognize and find foam letters to spell out, EARTH. That lead to their names and some two or three letter words.

The globe was put out with blocks in the circle area.

We colored in Love the Earth worksheets that illustrated different ways we can help the environment (plant a tree, use reusable bags, recycle, shut the faucet off/don't waste water).

Coffee filters, pipettes, and watercolors made a beautiful earth art project. I traced and cut out each child's handprints.   They glued the hands and a heart onto their watercolor earth. ❤ 🌎

The math table had an Earth book for each child.  First, we counted and wrote out the number of objects on each page. Then everyone was free to color in their book how they wished. Number rhymes help the Quarter Notes to remember how to write the numbers out independently. I was there to help if anyone got stuck.

NUMBER RYHMES:

1= Straight line down and then you're done. That is how you make a one.

2= First you make a candy cane. Then a shoe.  That is how you make a two.

3= Around the tree. Around the tree. That is how you make a three.

4= Straight line down. Across.  Then down some more. That is how you make a four.

5= Hat. Neck. Big round belly. (A classroom favorite 😂)
